Susan Watson, born in Ventura, California, is an Abstract painter who lives between Lake Tahoe and Paris, France.
She works primarily with acrylic paint on canvas or heavy paper.

In her early 20's she was introduced to painting by a neighbor and has since studied art at community college but
feels her most valuable art instruction has been when she has been accepted  as a private student by artists whose work
she admires. In 2002 she sold her business and began painting full-time with the desire to support herself with her art.
The process has led her on a path of self-discovery.

“I don't pretend to have any absolute answers but the creative process has encouraged lots of questions.
HOW DOES ART MOVE HUMANITY FORWARD IN OUR EVOLUTION BOTH  PHYSICALLY AND
SPIRITUALLY?
CAN THE OBSERVATION OF ART CALIBRATE US ENERGETICALLY?
   HOW DOES ART STIMULATE HEALING?
I deeply respect the power of the human spirit and I draw on my own intuition in the creative process.  I have
discovered that I don't have to know the outcome...I wait for the surprises and savour them.  It is this process that led
me to study abstract art and to leave known forms behind.

Painting in an intuitive abstract style using
light, color, shadow and

value, I express myself in a way that
communicates with the observer’s

spirit or essence. It requires willingness to
open my kimono and when

courageous enough to do that,
may reach, with

paint and canvas the emotional nature of the
observer and not just the intellect
